Draw/Re-Draw

Draw/Re-Draw will be an experiment in two parts. Part one, "Draw," will consist of a series of seminars/ workshops, revolving around the activity of drawing, viewed from the perspective of varying disciplines. Each seminar/workshop will have a short discussion component followed by a "making" component, and will be lead by a differnt professot. Part two of the event, "Re-draw," will consist of small interdisciplinary teams who will use the results of part one ("Draw") as raw material for making a new work (for example, a team might take the figure drawings from a workshop to use as generative material to make an animated film). The results will then be exhibited in a gallery show which will document the workshops as well as the final artifacts.

~ A Female Sensibility ~ Sept. 26-Oct. 3 issue of Newsweek
Videogame makers have ignored half their potential market. Now they're having a second look, and altering the possibilities of gaming. The video game industry's bias against women is so ingrained that the size of the current female market is largely unknown, report Paris Bureau Chief Christopher Dickey and Special Correspondent Nick Summers. However, analysts now expect that to change as companies look to grab market share by basing more user experiences around the interpersonal relationships that made games like "The Sims" such a hit with women.

A great/free resource for digital sound and video media.

Andrea Zittel on design + art.
Because of her interest in industrial design, Ms. Zittel has been embraced
by shelter magazines as the art world's answer to Philippe Starck. But she
rejects this label and has declined requests to have her designs
mass-produced. "I am not a designer - designers have a social
responsibility to provide solutions," she said. "Art is more about asking
questions."
